“Isn’t there an easier Way?”

REPORTS
Transform any list you make into a no nonsense, easy to read attractive report. There are two types of reports:

Bending over backwards for flexibility, all reports may be printed out, copied to disk in ASCII or HTML (web page) format, or exported in the delimited format of your choice. This makes it possible to use them for faxing, E-mail, in a word processor, spreadsheet, or other database program.

As a Major Program

Wishlist can categorize and total all your tax categories from mileage and meals to business trips. Then report the categories in different sort orders, and total and sub-total combinations with simple menu choices and button pushes.

Set up your Tax Categories as a Project giving it a meaningful name like ""1996 Tax Categories"

Use the Category and Priority fields to group and total your various categories.
Use Priority for General categories (i.e. mileage).
Use Category for Specific categories (i.e. charity or business miles).
When filling in line items, note the Qty field may divided into 1/10ths. This makes calculations like (12 x 1.8) possible.
Use the Line Item Memo to list why you deducted the item - for defense in case of an audit.

THE REPORT(S)
Wishlist is extremely flexible in its reporting so you can get the information you need.

You can combine All, or a group of projects in a single report.
You can report a single project and its line items.
Line Items only may be reported regardless of Project.
Make primary sort orders by Project, Priority, Category, Year, Project Dates, and I.D.#s.
Use the Sort & Style Menu to further refine how each line item is reported. You may include the line items and line item memos, or not (allowing for subtotals only to report).
Each Line Item may be reported in an Estimate, Cost, or Estimate minus Cost format.

Wishlist has defaults for all of these selections, so you start with an easy to understand familiar format for your reports. With everything meted out in bite sized chunks it is amazingly simple to generate complex reports.

To get the standard category report for the above tax example:

From the Single Record Menu, Use L=List to Screen/Printer. Accept the defaults on the 3-4 short menus and prompts, and your "1996 Tax Categories" will display on the screen.
The primary sort field (Default = Category) is subtotaled.
The sort order may be changed through the Sort & Style option in the Single Record Menu. Thus, with a simple menu option you can get a subtotal on Priorities or Year, as well as a different look to your report.
Group Functions opens up group selections and exponential flexibility in reports available from reporting a summary of just one category to all the categories in you selected Wishlist file.

Wishlist as an Team Player

Wishlist still finds a place with users that have financial programs and spreadsheets. There always seems to be an extensive setup or formatting procedure to go through to add a new category with these financial programs and spreadsheets. You often must "rebuild Rome to add a brick".

The beauty of Wishlist is its simplicity. Preformatted, sensible reports are the rule - and there is no complicated setup. You will find Handling test categories a breeze. Over and over you will use Wishlist to estimate those small projects not worth the time reformatting a spreadsheet, or opening a "new account" in a financial program.

Even deleting a project when done is a simple, convenient menu choice (with the usual "Are you sure?" warnings).

Wishlist is simple, powerful and flexible. It will find its niche on any computer.

Wishlist and the Printer

Wishlist uses simple menu choices to control the printer. Default settings for reports are 10 cpi (characters per inch) in draft mode. You also may choose NLQ (Near Letter Quality) printing for the final printout. character sizes are 10, 12, and 17 cpi and you can control the right and left margins with a simplified choice of printers. Reports are designed for basic 9.5 inch tractor feed printer paper or 8.5 x 11 inch cut sheets.
